Sungchul Shim

Born and raised in the Korean province of Jeollanam-do, Sung grew up cooking in his family’s kitchen for large gatherings and parties. Sung has worked in acclaimed kitchens since 2005 including Le Bernardin, Bouley, Aureole, Per Se, Gordon Ramsay, and Neta in Greenwich Village. In October 2019, Sung opened his first solo project Kochi, offering a nine-course tasting menu of Korean skewered dishes which received one Michelin star. In December 2021, he opened another chef tasting  restaurant inspired by Korean Handroll in Hell’s Kitchen received one Michelin star in 2022.

And he is expecting to open another project GUI Korean steak house in theater district early next year .
