Mary Solomon is a Partner at Star Thrower Entertainment, a film and television production company based in Los Angeles. Founded in 2013, Star Thrower develops, produces and finances content both independently and with studios, ranging from the Oscar-nominated films “King Richard” (2021) and “The Post” (2017) to “Wind River” (2017), “The Good Neighbor” (2016) and “Jamesy Boy” (2014). Among the films produced by Star Thrower, Mary also served as Producer on “LBJ” (2016), “Ingrid Goes West” (2017), “Welcome Home” (2018), “Villains” (2019), “8-Bit Christmas” (2021) and “King Richard” (2021).
Before focusing on film, Mary was a member of several theatrical production teams in NYC, including the team that brought the hit musical “Beautiful: The Carole King Story” (2014) to Broadway, the West End and cities around the US on a multi-year sold-out tour. In May 2020, Mary was the Creative Producer for The Homebound Project, an independent theater initiative borne in the early days of COVID-19, connecting writers with actors to create a summer-long series of original streaming content, with all proceeds benefitting No Kid Hungry.
With a background in branding, public relations and story-telling, Mary is also on the Board of several non-profits: Team Rubicon, the country’s leading veteran disaster relief organization; Roundabout Theatre Company, the largest not-for-profit theater company in the US; Film at Lincoln Center, America’s pre-eminent film presentation organization and host of the annual NY Film Festival. Mary is an Honorary Trustee of the American Museum of Natural History after serving that organization for 12 years.
